The greatest benefit you’ll get from working for Addaction is the reward and satisfaction of helping others. For the right person, it doesn’t get much better than that.

But it’s not only job satisfaction you’ll get here. We pride ourselves on giving our staff many great benefits, making Addaction a brilliant place to work. This is not only recognised by our team, but by ‘Investors in People’ who have given us silver in their awards. But that’s not good enough for us and we’re now chasing gold to ensure we keep on improving. We are also considered a ‘One to Watch’ organisation by Best Companies.

These are just some of the rewards you’ll get as part of our team:

When you join, you'll complete a full induction course that will help you really understand how we work and what's expected of you. We have an online induction learning module and you’ll also be assigned a buddy to help you settle in. You’ll have regular reviews with your manager to make sure you’re happy in your role.

Flexible working

We’re keen to offer flexible working whenever we can and we try to accommodate this wherever possible. Some people work part-time, others work either annualised or compressed hours and some people work from home. But flexible working isn’t only about the hours you work. We like to be flexible with the way you work too. If something isn’t working for you, we encourage open conversation and trust our staff to find a better way.

Our accreditations

Our awards speak volumes.

We are very proud of our accreditation with IIP and Best Company who recognise the skills and abilities of our teams, and help us to improve the way we manage and lead the organisation. These awards are testament to how we do things at Addaction, and to our team’s passion, their commitment and their ability to live by the organisation’s values and guiding principles.

We know that if our teams are to give their very best they need the best tools to do their jobs, which is why we –provide them with exemplary face-to-face training and an award winning bespoke eLearning programme.

An Investor in People Standard tells you what good people management looks like too. Silver means that we are among the top 3% of all IIP organisations, which is a huge achievement!

Best Company provides an independent viewpoint on how engaged employees are in their workplace. We are proud to have been on the ‘One to Watch’ list since 2009.

Your learning and development

We’re proud of the multi award-winning learning and development (L&D) opportunities we offer. We’re dedicated to your development and so we provide a range of learning opportunities to support you in your role. Online learning is the cornerstone of our L&D provision and encompasses both mandatory modules and optional modules for personal and professional development. Front line practitioners are able to access a range of face-to-face training days to develop the essential skills they need to work effectively with service users on their journey to recovery.

If you don’t already hold a sector recognised qualification, you will undertake the Gateway Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in Tackling Substance Misuse. We support those in management positions by offering access to appropriate qualifications through the Institute of Leadership & Management along with HR Workshops and other training events. We are also proactive in supporting the Continued Professional Development requirements of our clinical staff and are constantly evaluating, updating and developing all our L&D provision.

We have a range of five mandatory online learning modules that are all called Safeguarding: Children and Young People; Adults; Information Governance; Health & Safety and Equality and Diversity. Everyone is expected to do these modules annually irrespective of the role you are in.

Annual leave

It’s important that you get time for rest and relaxation too. We offer 28 days leave plus statutory holidays each year (30 for managers), rising to 29 days (31 for managers) after five years’ service. The leave year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Part-time leave is calculated pro rata.

You will be automatically enrolled into the Addaction group pension scheme on joining and after six months’ service we’ll contribute 6% of your salary into the scheme.

Healthcare scheme, childcare vouchers and cycle to work scheme

We’ve teamed up with a healthcare provider Benenden to give you and your families’ access to low-cost healthcare. It works with the NHS and costs from £8.19 a month. If you have a child aged 16 or under to care for, we run a salary-sacrifice childcare vouchers scheme. We also run a cycle-to-work schemes, which allows you to get a bike tax-free.

Death in service

Hopefully a benefit you’ll never need. If a staff member dies while working for us, we provide a one-off lump sum payment to their nominated beneficiary that amounts to three times their annual salary. The proviso is that you are on Addaction terms and conditions.

Other great benefits

We run a 24/7 employee assistance programme, which is committed to supporting our people when the demands of everyday life puts pressure on work, home or relationships.
