National Volunteers' Week 2017 runs from June 1-7, and is an annual celebration of the fantastic contribution millions of volunteers make across the UK.
We are very lucky to work with a broad range of people who choose to offer their time to Addaction as a volunteer. Last year, our 810 volunteers contributed an incredible 243,000 hours of their time to Addaction. We're extremely grateful to all the volunteers at our projects for their dedication to help make the lives of our service users better. People of all ages and from all walks of life gave their time to help support us and our service users with everything from peer support groups to fishing trips and much, much more. Without their fantastic enthusiasm, skills and experience we wouldn't be the organisation we are today.
The additional support our volunteers provide across our services means we can extend our reach into new areas and engage more directly with the local communities in which we work. Some of our volunteers take up the chance to gain drug counselling qualifications. Others provide help, support and guidance to people who’ve completed drug and alcohol treatment, and who are trying to find work. Throughout this week we'll be sharing stories about some of our volunteers' amazing achievements on social media, but most of all we want to say a huge, huge thank you to all our fantastic volunteers!
