Typical roles
There is a no such thing as a typical role within Addaction. Most of our staff work directly with clients: either key working or group working clients. We employ outreach workers in the local community, Project Workers, Nurses and Doctors offering prescribing services,. We work are in partnership with other agencies everything from the Youth Offending Team to police stations and courts. In all these roles you'll be there to help our clients address their substance misuse issues. Acting as both supporter and facilitator, you'll draw up care plans to assist them through and beyond the challenges they face, and work with them to make positive changes.
You'll need to have excellent listening skills, balanced with a team-orientated and proactive attitude, as well as demonstrable experience in a health, social care or criminal justice setting and qualifications for roles such as Nurses, Social Workers or Doctors

Project Worker
You'll be there to help our clients address their substance misuse issues. Acting as both supporter and facilitator, you'll draw up care plans to assist them through and beyond the challenges they face, and work with them to make positive changes.
You'll need to have excellent listening skills, balanced with a team-orientated and proactive attitude, as well as demonstrable experience in a health, social care or criminal justice setting.
Administrator
As the hub of the team, you'll run an efficient office and help us provide the most effective services possible. Whether you're composing office documents, maintaining our database or co-ordinating diaries, expect to find yourself constantly busy and stimulated in this fast-paced, wide-ranging role.
This is a wonderful opportunity for you to use your skills in a constructive context. To make the most of it, you'll need to have a full range of administrative and IT skills, the ability to think on your feet and confidence to take the initiative.
Court Liaison Worker
You'll be responsible for supporting clients from their initial appearance in court through to the end of their cases. Though demanding, this role offers the unique opportunity for you to get hands-on experience of breaking the cycle of drug-related crime and its effects.
This is a challenge that needs plenty of drive and a professional approach to dealing with offenders and judicial officials. A good knowledge of the court process is desirable, as is experience within a health, social care or criminal justice environment.
Criminal Justice Worker
You'll provide vital support to people whose substance misuse issues have involved the criminal justice system. Working in partnership with the police and other agencies, you'll assess needs and devise appropriate treatment strategies, helping people to make positive changes in their lives.
Hugely varied and uniquely demanding, this is a challenge that calls for an excellent communicator and organiser. Confident and tenacious, you'll be someone with experience in a health, social care or criminal justice environment.
Day Care Worker
You'll provide support on a one-to-one basis, helping our clients with the day-to-day goals involved in achieving long-term recovery. This is very much a front-line role with the chance to have major and positive impacts on lives.
Confident and organised, you'll be an active listener and strongly empathetic to the needs of others. Experience in a health, social care or criminal justice environment is important.
Enhanced Arrest Referral Worker
Working closely with the police, you'll provide our clients with advice and onward referral. By providing effective intervention earlier, you'll increase the likelihood that individuals will be able to make long-term, positive changes.
This is a challenge that calls for a firm yet understanding individual with excellent people skills. A highly confident negotiator and active listener, you'll have experience in a health, social care or criminal justice setting.
Outreach Worker
Working with clients in ‘hard to reach' communities, you'll build bridges and support those most in need. By encouraging and helping people to move away from a cycle of drugs and crime, you'll improve the safety and wellbeing of these communities.
To have the biggest impact, you'll need to have confidence in street settings, excellent organisation skills and the ability to connect with a wide range of people. A natural communicator and responsive listener, you'll need to have experience in a health, social care or criminal justice setting.
Team Leader
Working closely with a Service Manager, you'll supervise a team of staff, assist in client caseload management and provide crucial day-to-day management support. Your responsibility will be to help us deliver a consistent, first-rate service and ever-more positive outcomes.
You'll need to be an excellent communicator and organiser, with a proven track record in team supervision and development. This role represents a potential first step towards a full management career for someone with experience in a health, social care or criminal justice environment.
Service Manager
With overall responsibility for the smooth running of service, you'll provide a dynamic lead in all aspects of management, from people and processes through to budgets and finances. Acting as our front-line leader, you'll continually search for ways to enhance the quality of our vital services.
