Why work for us

Charitable trusts

There are lots of reasons why people join us and stay with us. Here are the thoughts of some of those who are doing just that:

"Addaction is an exciting place to work. The organisation supports its staff to develop their ideas for how to best meet the needs of the people we work with. As a result we're leading the field by developing innovative services including the new Aspire project for young people and families affected by substance misuse."
Gaby Chalk, Project Development Manager

Our work goes further than substance misusers themselves. Our practical, creative and engaging services also help the young people, adults and families affected by drug and alcohol abuse:

"Throughout my seven years at Addaction I have had the pleasure of working with some of the best, most dedicated and professional people and teams in the sector. The organisation has always encouraged my professional development, helping me to progress from a project administrator through to senior management".
Jo Dodkins, Head of Treatment Information

We offer a Federation of Drug and Alcohol Professionals recognised learning programme for all front line practitioners and the Open University Leading for Results programme for managers, who may then choose to complete a certificate in management, diploma or MBA.:

"Volunteering for Addaction provides me with a positive and constructive tool to progress with my own personal and career development. Addaction delivers an essential service to clients with complex needs which in turn gives me the opportunity to be part of an essential service for people in need"
Mark, Volunteer Addaction Manchester

If you're looking to take your first step into drug treatment work or simply want to do something worthwhile, we run volunteer programmes up and down the country:

"Addaction has given me the freedom and flexibility to run my service."
Jonathan, Buckinghamshire

Though we're a nationwide organisation, we keep red tape to a minimum. We're committed to fostering an environment that helps you achieve success.

"It's exciting to work for a service that believes in the value of partnerships. We actively pursue working relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies and it's a culture that runs throughout Addaction."
Nick, Liverpool

We work alongside hospitals, the police and probation, community and other groups to ensure our service users get the best deal:

"Addaction is a great organisation to work for. I'm happy here and get on well with everyone - my team and my managers. They're really supportive, and there's a great atmosphere. I feel all the ingredients are here to make Addaction a good place to work."
