Keynote Address

Dr Brian Iddon MP

Born in Tarleton, Lancashire, Dr Iddon has received a Degree of D.Sc. from the University of Hull and a number of awards, including an Honorary Fellowship from the University of Bolton, Honorary Membership of The Society of Chemical Industry and the President's Award from The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Dr Iddon has served as a Councillor on Bolton MBC (Chairman of the Housing Committee, 1986 to 1996) for 21 years.   Bolton elected him an Honorary Alderman for his services to the town in 1998. He was elected to Parliament in 1997 and re-elected in 2001 and 2005.

Brian's interests in Parliament lie in the Education, Health and Social Security and Science and Technology policy areas. He is a Member of the Science and Technology Select Committee. He is also currently Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Hepatology Group.
