“Addaction supported me in a time of need. They supported me in a way that I’ve never felt before.”

Courage, determination and a commitment to helping others make Margaret one of life’s true inspirations.

These days her family, friends and colleagues burst with pride at the person she has become and the work she does helping people with drug and alcohol problems.

However, there was a time when Margaret didn’t want to imagine waking up the next day. She just wanted to drink to hide the torment of an abusive relationship and deal with the stress of caring for ill family members. She didn’t think it would be possible to build a better life for herself and her family, until she realised she wasn’t alone. She got support from Addaction and took steps towards dealing with the trauma of an abusive childhood.

Now she tells her incredible story to spread hope and understanding to others that recovery is possible with the right help.

Please listen to Margaret in her own words above.

The problem
