Graham BuckleWhy donate to Addaction?

People donate to Addaction for all kinds of reasons. Perhaps they have experience of addiction themselves, or perhaps a family member or friend found themselves going through hard times because of substance misuse.

Graham Buckle has been donating to Addaction for since the late 1980s, and often runs the London Marathon on our behalf. Here, Graham tells why.

"When I was younger, I had a friend who got involved in drugs big time. We all dabbled – we were in our teens – but he and another friend ended up using a lot and it really affected them and their familes. I feel we all have a potential for addiction and that these guys were the unlucky ones.

"Addaction may not be as well known as some of the wider charities, but I feel it’s equally important and so do people in my community. What Addaction do is fantastic: The way they work with users, families, children, communities... The publications and advice they do… all of it is just brilliant.

"I’m so proud of being involved, I can’t tell you.”
