1.3 million children are living in homes where one of the parents has a serious drug or drink problem.
These children are living lonely and intensely difficult lives. Some are assuming the role of a parent themselves, and are looking after younger brothers and sisters. Others are isolated at school, because of the stigma attached to their parents’ problems.
Above all, this is a generation of children who are growing up in homes where problem drinking and drugs are seen as normal - something that makes them seven times more likely to become drug users or problem drinkers themselves.
Addaction’s pioneering new work can help. Our Breaking The Cycle project supports families affected by drink and drugs by working with parents, and by doing so, directly helping theirĀ children.
Already, we have helpedĀ over 250 families (and over 460 family members) to make positive, long lasting changes. We have helped parents stop drinking and taking drugs. We have stabilised chaotic routines and we have helped mums and dads put the needs of their children first.
By supporting our new campaign, you can help Addaction improve the lives of many more families - and your donation will go directly into helping families throughout the UK.
